A bit late on a reply to this one. I have a Carlton Cobra from 1968 with block CARLTON logos on, it looks VERY different to the Cobra in the 1977 catalogue you mention. The RD and other components is the same however the acrylic panelling is totally different (and much more tasteful), more similar to the 1970 Cobra yet more tasteful still; http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/carlton70/06.JPG
