Congratulations Jerry.

I visited the Waterford Paramount facility at an open house, in I believe August to October 1989. The guitar playing manager and, I think 5 other builders including a very talented woman had been producing the frames, and, I assume the 50th anniversary edition as well the previous year, as they had a frame or two on display as well as other Schwinn dealerswho showed up with their Paramounts. I showed up with my 1974 Paramount that I was the second owner.

I'm sure the builder is on the Waterford site, I now remember his name as Marc Muller, who had worked for Schwinn for a while.

I remember seeing bikes from the Wheaties/Schwinn team, which included one with the name "the Leprecaun" which was, I think one of the McCormack brothers. I am sure that the info is available, I am just going from memory.

I'd give the frame 9 of 10. This is the genuine article. Gold plated fork,
gold decals, several decals say ,"FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY" and the left chain stay decal says, "LIMITED EDITION 50TH ANNIVERSARY".> > This frame has abou t as good a workmanship as any production frame I've ever seen. I don't kno w who was building these at Waterford in 1988, but they were very good.> > I'm a bit surprised I got this bike for $763. With a few changes, I think i t could have gone for over $1000. Photos could have shown a bit more detail . Also, the bullhorn bars, albeit Cinelli, didn't help. Finally the C-Recor d wheels were a bit incongruous with the otherwise SR gruppo. The rear whee l was a 130 mm C-Record wedged into a 126 mm frame, although bidders would not have known this.> > The Waterford website suggests that they consider t he 50th Anniversay Paramount the best ever built outside Chicago, and in so me ways the best Paramount, period. I have to agree.> > Regards,> > Jerry M oos> Big Spring, TX> > > > > > > > > > > --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts ---> multipart/alternative> text/plain (text body -- kept)> text /html> ---> _______________________________________________> Classicrendezv ous mailing list> Classicrendezvous@bikelist.org> http://www.bikelist.org/m ailman/listinfo/classicrendezvous _________________________________________________________________ Your smile counts.
