If it's a gift the Berthoud flaps are nice. If I'm making them for myself rubber ribbed stair tread stuff works nicely as do the rubber liners used on big semi truck wheels. I get them from the dumpster at a truck tire place. But not a nice gift. Phil Brown Haven't needed mine yet in very dry San Rafael, calif.
