IIRC, I had mine done to a 74 mm bolt circle at Palo Alto cycles back in 1989. It was drilled and tapped for Campy bolts which they sold me too, not sure what standard they are, and I used an Avocet 28 tooth chainring gotten from Euro Asia which had the larger diameter holes for the Campy bolts.
Recently Bob Freeman of Elliott Bay bikes sold me a larger TA chainring
that he personally enlarged the holes of to fit the Campy bolts. He may
be able to do the conversion. The TA rings are much spidery/minimalist
and would go well with the Campy setup. I also remember about a year or
so ago, a wooden boxed kit that was set up for drilling the crank spider
that had been purchased by a CR member. Good luck with it. Stay at
30-32 teeth if you do that conversion or the chain can get sucked in
between the rings to the point where you may have to loosen bolts to get
it out. With my 28x48x53 setup, I had to be in the large cog on the
back if I wanted to guarantee it not happening. I've also experimented
with 32x42x53 on a Raleigh Pro, but can't seem to find a good front
derailleur to shift alpine that well.

Fellow gnomes of the horde: Some time ago there was a thread about one of our members that drilled and tapped the drive side of the Campagnolo crank arm to fit either the traditional Campagnolo 100 BCD 36T inner chain ring or some other more popular BCD to fit a wider range of choices for the inner chain ring. I want to know who that contact is and also from the minds of any other lister if there are appropriate substitutes for the Campagnolo triple spindle. These are quite hard to find. Thanks in advance for the avalanche of replies. BT
