I had a pleasant meeting Monday here at my shop with Chuck Lathe, the man behind Coho Bicycles (http:www.cohobicycles.com).
He has recently relocated to rural North Carolina and is (full time!) making Randonneur style (mostly) bike frames, accessories and even complete bikes. Chuck is a fascinating guy, having had a lot of interesting occupations prior to settling in on this craft! The Coho name comes from a variety of Salmon in Washington state that some of you may know about (I didn't!)
He rode his bike up to the store and it is the red bike featured in his web site.. It has Henry James lugs, True Temper tubing and some neat & thoughtful details... He fabricate his own brazed on center pull pivot mounts from bits of standard cantilever fittings, nice routing of cables with a little loop here and there to keep them in their place. His racks looked very nicely executed, all home made...
Anyway, we had a nice talk and tour of cycles de ORO's hidden secret stuff (!) and I am happy to welcome him to our community! He is a member of this list and is seeking business if you like his stuff!

I was looking around on the Internet and in the bike list archives and fo und a couple references to 1960s/70s Orbea bicycles. It appears that Orbe a used both Zeus and Alfa components which makes since due to buying out the Zeus name in the 70s.
Does anyone have any pictures of vintage Orbeas they would mind sharing? They seem to be really rare.
Thanks,
