I have to say I wasn't offended by Travis statement...he just put it out there on the table and bit more open. I liked Travis' approach. I tried a nicer approach earlier in the week on the list...sort of a steel fist wearing a velvet glove and watched the continuing flaming of the "fixie culture" conversation continue. So Travis just finally spoke up. nothing wrong with it at all. I have been rather irritated by at least 50% of the entire conversation and trashing going on here yet it continues. In fact I got a comment offlist about my post not being classic content related which had me laughing upon reading most of the other posts that were related to the subject. it made me wonder how many others received the email.
Just let people enjoy their lives and rides. I said it before and I will say it again. The roads filter out the real cyclists and those in it for fashion...I use the term fashion rather than culture because culture could be anything and should be tolerated. Fashion can be something that is common now and only now and soon to be outdated...people in it for looks usually don't last past the phase to be considered part of the cycling culture...which would include EVERYONE who rides for enjoyment, transportation...etc. Heck, even some fashion minded get introduced to different aspects of the sport and find a niche but I am not going to rip on them for having fun in the process...but I have learned over time to smile and ride. If someone differs I didn't crack off and call them a Poseur...nor do I think others should jump on a continuing rant on the fixed gear culture. Enough already...go out and ride and stop the ranting. I thought this list was for classic riding? Lately it is like one big opinionated bitch session.
