I bought this Schwinn World Voyageur on eBay, and it arrived today:
Extremely clean and totally original. It's even possible it has the original tires, although these need replacing.
Evidently these came only in 21" and 23". I've been looking for one for a while, as I remember Arnie Nashbar, when he was still selling parts out of his garage, getting these for several members of my old club, the Outspokin' Wheelmen (Youngstown, OH) in the early 70's. Actually the 21" would have been closer to ideal. But I nearly got another 23" a few weeks ago on eBay, and that seller quoted a standover height about 3/4" lower than this seller. Turns out the current seller was correct as to standover. So the bike, which is 57 cm ctc, is a bit too tall, although I can certainly ride it.
So, does anyone have a clean, original 21" World Voyageur that is a little too small that they'd like to trade for a 23"? This sounds like a long shot, but a couple of years ago I did a similar trade with a list member for, believe it or not, a Jack Taylor tandem slightly smaller than the Jack Taylor tandem I had. So it's worth a try.
I'll take any of the three colors the World Voyageur came in. And the year is really no issue, as I think the World Voyageur was only made for two years, although there were subsequent Voyageur II and other similar models.
