1980 : I answered an ad in the local paper for a "Schwinn Paramount, Camping Equipped." Luckily, i answered 1st. When I showed up, it was a P-15, 150 miles, 1974 model, hardly used, the wife had crashed hers. Since I answered 1st I got the bike for $300. It might seem like a lot but that's like getting a Trek Madone 5900 today for $1300 in perfect unused condition.
2004 : World logo hoods, ebay, $10, NOS/perfect, blurry auction picture.
2005 : Raleigh Gransport, $25, stronglight cranks, American Classic wheels, japanese (cyclone/titlist) drivetrain, 531 main tubes, suntour pedals.
2006 : Raleigh International 1970 Coffee / Complete, $75. The ad was on craigslist Los Angeles, an early 70's model in prime condition. I answered first and got an o.k. to come visit but before I could get there the next evening I called ahead and someone was already showing up to collect the bike !!!
