I recently purchased a Legnano , recognizable only by the placement of its seat binder bolt as it was spray painted and is w/o decals. Fortunately it came with the original receipt from Thomas Avenia dated July 1, 1971. It says it is a Red 23" Legnano Supercorsa built w/ Reynolds 531 tubing and built up w/ Campagnolo Record components. Serial Number 6209-R. It was $250 with $14 added for 2 tires and $2.75 for a bottle carrier!
My questions are: 1- Where did this model stand in the Legnano line? I usually hear about the Roma Olimpiade or Gran Premio models. 2- 2- Would the red look like the more popular green color or was it an enamel type of finish? 3- Do you think it a worthwhile project for a repaint/rebuild? Thanks for any info! Len Diamond Ridgewood, New Jersey, USA
