Subject: [CR]Re Wyndham's Hetchins.

Hello Wyndham, I think your frame has been resprayed and fitted with transfers from Lloyds. The paint may well be a match for the original, hence the maroon on the steerer. I have a 1976 Hetchins ''Keyhole'' in original paint. Confirmed by the Southend seat tube transfer. When I stripped the forks out to clean the bearings I found a piece of masking tape on it with the words ''Hetchins maroon'' written in faded felt pen. Perhaps this maroon is a known Hetchins colour? Can anybody tell us more?

The frame was obviously ordered by someone who cycled pre war. It has the pre war seat stay eyes and a headclip. I have a 1953 Gillott Fleur de Lis Tourer and a 1951 Gillott Alpine Tourist both fitted with a headclip so they were out there but not at all common.
