I'm not sure how much thought was involved, mostly desperation. I had the same problem with a NR seatpost. I\u2019ve had good luck with KROIL but it wouldn\u2019t budge after several applications. Heated area with a hair dryer and applied more KROIL which soaked in. Mounted an old saddle and ran a stick through the frame for purchase. Stick broke. A piece of pipe with about a foot sticking out of both ends finally gave me enough purchase to move it, but it still took about 15 minutes of sweating and cursing to twist it out. I can\u2019t say which cuss word was the magic one, but I can\u2019t repeat them here. The steel post looked like some sledge hammer mechanic had tried to grind down a too large post, and he or she must have pounded it in. With a sledge hammer of course. I'm glad I didn't use a large pipe wrench on it, as I was tempted to do, because I had a machinist smooth it off making it usable. I was surprised that the post was steel because I have another all aluminum NR post. Is a steel post an early model?
