Dear Listers,
While we are on the subject of chrome plated bronze (or brass?) parts of early campagnolo components, such as the arms of the first generation record FD, I would like to make an inquiry about early campagnolo record brake calipers. The quick reliease cam mechanisms on a set which I recently cleaned up are brass (or bronze). I discovered this as a bit of metal polish exposed some of it so I decided to polish away with autosol and a rag till I had glimmering brass cams, since most of it was already exposed. I do not believe later record brake cams are made from brass, are they? Would anyone know when they changed or if they changed and it is just a peculiarity that the chrome was removed so easily from mine? I have polished later versions and not had this happen, I had assumed they were steel.
Thanks
