Subject: [CR]PEUGEOT junior racer
Dear CR listees,
I just picked up a circa 1972 PEUGEOT Junior Racer with 24" steel
rims, appears to be a Model G 50 C according to the website: CYCLES RETRO
PEUGEOT @ http://home.wanadoo.nl/peugeotshow/
The bicycle is basically a miniature Peugeot UO8 five speed
racer, with, fenders, rear rack and generator and lights.Simplex gears and
side pull brakes.Bolt on wheels no quick release.Rock hard plastic
saddle,Lyotard steel pedals with reflectors.
It's the first one I've seen by Peugeot. Does anyone recall these in the
USA. The catalog on the Cycles Retro Peugeot website is in GERMAN.Tires
are 24 X 1 1 3/8" clinchers.
Thanks to Brian Frank I now have a new Tubular tire for the Gitane
Junior Racer I picked up last year.My nephew will be using the Gitane
for some races later this year.
I don't know if he'll get into the randonneur thing, but I had to pick
this little Peugeot up.The Simplex Delrin shifter broke will going
through the gears, par for the course with the old plastic shifters.
One of these days I hope to get some photos taken for the CR website.
If anyone knows if there was a USA model or is G 50 C the same model
number for all countries in the Peugeot models.
Yours truly,
Marty Walsh in Vienna,Va. in the USA
