I have scoured the web and there are never any good shots of Jim Merz work. So, I thought I would share. Check out this Beauty! I was told it was built in 1982. The person I bought it from apparently blew his knees out shortly after the bike was completed and had it in hanging for 20 years, so the bike has very little miles and is in pretty incredible shape. There are a few chips in the paint and some wear in th Cinelli leather. Everything is original, down to the sew on tires.. Although, I had to put some miles on it. I was also told it was one of Jim's last bikes under his manufacturing company before he began working for specialized, maybe he can correct me on that. Coincidentally, the day I got the bike, I was riding around and stopped in a little bike shop in Portland off of Belmont and I got to meet Virginia Church who remember the bike vividly because she was the one who painted it. It is the strangest thing owning a Merz, people come out of the wood work to talk to you about the bike. People who remember when these bikes first made their debut..
Anyway, you can check out the photos here: http://www.flickr.com/
Enjoy,
