Greetings Jack and any local riders here in the "OC", Well the Santa Ana River trail is one of my favorite vintage bike rides and I admit, there are plenty of homeless type of people hanging out, any day any time.....I've never seen any malicious activity towars cyclists or have had any incidents myself, or heard of any issues..... I see plenty of solo riders too... Although, I will suggest that a rider be very alert and aware of their surroundings..... I wouldn't suggest this ride at night with lights.... Anyway, I'm more worried about being "door'ed" on Coast highway in Huntington Beach!! Jack, riding under the I-5 is not the same as it used to be, dark, dreary, glass strewn and tent city!! It was scary!! It has all been re-constructed, and is open and bright... Most of the characters are now hanging out in the park area at Katella, again a very open area..... All in all trail is in pretty decent shape and anybody who would like to get out on their vintage bike and take a real nice 40 mile bike ride, let me know..... or I have a short and sweet 10 mile loop near the house, but, it has a 1000ft of climbing...... Be alert and ride safe, Cheers, John Morrison, of the John-n-Stacy-tandemteam, Anaheim Hills, CA
