Ahoy !

Re: Bianchi '80's Unusual S/N

The Ser. No. doesn't match the several examples I found so, I remain puzzled.

Underside of BB shell: B . 28 3

Any guesses on how to interpret the S/N ?

There is definitely distance between the "28" and the "3". The number arrangement does not appear to imply "283" for the suspicion of Feb. 1983. Also the dot between the "B" and the "28" is quite robust as if made with a good whack of the punch and, it is set mid level ( not low like a decimal).

Chrome Campag drop-outs; slotted/water drainage bb shell; sloping crown. "Bianchi" in the crown, circled "B" in the seat stay caps; "B" in the lower head lug.

Tubing = Bianchi Special; Tubi Rinforzati; Cromo Molibdeno; Produzione Columbus. Rifling is not apparent in the seat tube. I assume rifling would be ready and obvious.

There is no model decal either but, just the Bianchi on the down tube.
