Last November, I was visiting the Witcomb Cycles shop in southern London (just off Deptford High Street, not too far from the Cutty Sark). Barrie Witcomb had just finished repairing a twin-tube Saxon, and building a replica of the same bike for the same owner. Saxon to treasure, Witcomb to ride, apparently.

Barrie's lore on the Saxon brand: Like Witcomb, a south London establishment. Saxon fabricated everything on the frameset in-house -- tubes, lugs, and drops. Like much of south London, Saxon was completely bombed out by the Luftwaffe early in World War II. No rebuilding or moving, just gone.

That's all I know. Got a poor photo of the Saxon-Witcomb twins stored here somewhere if you'd like....
