When BARUM tubulars disappeared off the market in the late 80s early 90s the company became TUFO, a company well known for its hybrid ie clincher t ype tubular tyres.
The BARUM company was struggling with very old machinery and virtually n o capital to fight off the competition from the Far East. A French friend o f mine put in some capital to the new company, but romour has it that the m ajority share-holding is held by a large manufacturer such as Continental.
