For some time now, I've pondered the genesis of 27" wheels. I know that the higher-end vintage lwts mostly came with sewups and that 700C clinchers are a no problem retrofit. So how/why/when did 27" enter the picture to our chagrin? Was 27" mostly by and for US market and vintage Euro makers simply went along to tap into this lucrative market?
