That is a cool bike, especially considering it was built for a very accomplished USA rider. I can tell you there are less expensive options for decent refinishing... Keep checking around and look at the Resources page in the CR web site...

You will see that messages to this list REQUIRE a sign off procedure that should include your first and last name, city, state and country. (This is the third reminder message for this I have had to one-finger type in the past day!)
Also you will see a reference to it NOT being appropriate asking the list members what something is worth... Couple of considerations here.. First, that process of value placing is relatively sloppy, subjective guesswork; nothing is "worth" a set amount, it just depends upon timing, size, model. condition, finding a suitable buyer. A very few high end, frequently bought and sold bikes might be predictable in their resale price but darned few fit that... Plus, why does it matter to a owner of an older bike what it's worth? Does that have something to do with ownership? Why? Is the owner planning to sell it? If so, we don't want this list used to "plumb" for pricing... As the Rules say, this is not a forum to assist bike owners to max out what they sell stuff for... True vintage afficienados value their bikes for the aesthetics, ride and nostalgia, not for what kinda profit they can make from them. That mercenary approach is repugnant to most members and especially to the list owner.
Sorry for the rant, I just needed to restate that for the whole lists reading as well as address your question...

I rescently puchased a 1979 Tom Kellogg track bike.Im in the market for a new bike for my wife and im conscidering selling the Kellogg to finance the project.
The frames cereal # is 79.125.40.50 . I contacted Spectrum and was told the frame was built for Paul Deem, who was in the 1980 Olympics as well as many time national champ. The frame currently has a not original canary yellow paint and chromed fork, the paint job is rather average, with some dust noticeable with in the paint. According to Tom Kellogg the frame was orriginally bright silver with Panosonic Shimano team decals. I was inquiring about having the frame painted simmilar to Toms 30th anniversary frame at last years NAHBS, that particular paint job would cost $700, with masking candying and pearling. A basic single color with original Tom Kellogg decals and clear coat would be $400.
The bike which inclues Dura Ace (NJS) cranks, BB, headset,and seat post, Cinelli stem and bars, Campy front Mavic rear track wheels. The bike was purchased from Paul Deem, who now runs a bike shop in Orange County.
If you guys could help I would like to get a guestement as to what the bikes wearth. I often check e-bay and dont recall ever seeing a Spectrum or Kellogg for sale. 1979 was the last year Tom built under his own name.
