I have one, so I know they existed. It's a Tour de France model. The head tube badge has a little red four-wheeled steam locomotive and says, "Locomotief Amsterdam." It's mostly Campanoglo equipped, but with Weinmann Type 730 side-pull brakes, Brooks B17, Stronglight cranks, and Kint/Maes bars. (Kint/Maes were the trick racing bars back then. Trust me, I was racing at the time.) I bought this bike around 1960 for fifty bucks. It still rides great. It's the road racer I always wanted, but it was too late for me to race it, I retired after winning the Ohio State ABLA Junior Championship in 1949 and 1950. The Locomotief is just as I bought it except for a Brooks Professional that I bought around 1970.
On a sort of related note, I just found a Sieber track bike on wooljersey.com/gallery that's just like my first track racer. Only mine was red and had wide-flange Harden hubs, the ones with grease fittings. If anybody knows of a Sieber track bike or frame for sale, I'd be interested.
I'd appreciate any info.
