Subject: [CR]Miyata anyone? (Ian Briggs)

Hi All,

I have just acquired a 25" (CtoT) Miyata Three Ten with a mix of equipment that dosen't match any of the spec's I have found on 'googling' the www or indeed on the archive postings here.

Miyata (singular - not 'Koga Miyata') is a virtually unknown brand in the UK and was never imported here as far as I know. I suspect from the inventory tag that was on the head tube it may have found its way here with a member of the US forces (?)

I'd like to be able to date this frame, which is of very decent quality indeed for a mass-produced item and is made from Miyata's in-house cro-mo butted tubing. Metallic Grey with red decals, 26.8 seatpost, 126mm rear spacing, very neat lugwork, 'Miyata' engraved of the fork crowns, and a single boss on the top of the down tube for aero-type levers (like Sun Tour's, but they don't quite fit at the mo' - but I'll make them, don't worry!)

I have the frame number, but because this frame may be either on or off topic, Three Tens I understand having been produced from the late 70s to the mid 80s (?); I wonder if any Miyata experts would be kind enough to contact me off-list?

Thanx.
