As you may or may not be aware, there will be a short (possibly 40 km) version of the RvV for classic bikes in Oudenaarde, Belgium, on Sunday, July 8.
I have been alerted to this event by Hennie van Leeuwen who hopes to put together a "pelotonneke" (Flemish "for small group of cycle riders").
CR members who live in Europe might want to attend; I wonder if Americans want to fly across the Atlantic to cycle 40 km. However, as the organizers expect original bikes and clothing befitting the event, and given the usual standard of Dutch and Belgium cycle get-togethers, the outcome should be remarkable.
There is a website, http://www.degoudenflandrien.be (the golden Flandrien, actually the title of a 250 km audax-type thing the Saturday before), and the organizer, who seems to be laudably enthused be the whole affair, can be reached under joeri.wannijn (at) crvv.be.
The Oudenaarde Centre of the Tour of Flanders also has a site: http://www.crvv.be.
If anyone should encounter any problems with the Flemish language, either Hennie or myself shall be pleased to help.
Regards, Toni Theilmeier, Belm, Germany, where we have been told to expect 25 deg. C. over the weekend.
