Another explanation: using such tiny spheres looks for me as if somebody wanted to give the bike a very specific weight. Lets assume the owner of the Herse bike ordered another bike, but this time made of 5/10 531 tubing instead of 7/10 because of the weight, willimg to pay a good amount of money for this extra. When the new bike was finished the builder noticed that it weighted more or less the same as the old Herse but fortunately the customer left the Herse in the shop (for taking the measurements) and when he appeared to take both bikes home the builder could show him that the new bike is indeed 300g lighter than the old Herse.
