Long top tubes relative to the seattube are very common on old French bikes. I've become accustomed to using very short stems. Austro-Daimlers were also famous for long top tubes, and I think maybe Crescents as well.

It was OK in the 'sit and spin' position, but to stand up required almost a leap across the gorge to get onto my feet, and then I was feeling way out in front of the bike once standing. I agree that the geometry would probably be better suited to someone with equally unique body geometry.

52cm (c-c) seat tube and 57cm top tube sounds like a custom fit for a very unique individual? Anyone???
