Here is the lines in the CR Rules that I believe covers this:
12. Courteous exchanges only. The list is not intended as a debate forum. Passionate disagreements may not be indulged in on-list. Members should be able to participate with the expectation that their contributions w ill be respected and they will be free from subsequent on-list or off-list
harassment. A CR list member will immediately lose their membership if they engage in any attack or negative posts to or about another CR member.
13. Obscene (as the list owner views it), scatological, rude, off colo r, vulgar, ugly, demeaning, insulting language is banned and will result in \u201cth e boot!\u201d
So, in this mini-drama, Paul Wilson voiced his unhappiness about a deal, in his view, gone sour and a number of persons voiced their support of Matteo and their own positive experience in deals with him. Fine.
It is fine to comment that your experience isn't the same as Paul's, but stu ff like "i think what paul did, how he behaved was 'certainly uncalled for'. ....maybe my words are a bit more acidic and sarcastic than others posts on this episode." is inappropriate. Our comparative experiences are worth telli ng, but our opinions are really not very relevant.
If we all decided to jump in and comment on CR members motives, actions, beh avior, we will have a helluva mess here. There are about 1500 CR members, al l with different opinions. For instance, I feel about 3 CR members are horse 's asses and 1497 are great folks, but I am hardly about to bore everyone an d clog up band width with my feelings about that!
The approach to CR mail should be:
- TBe careful and cautious about being spontaneous in your e-mails; stop, ta ke a deep breath and wait to send whatever e-mail you are inclined to write in an emotional state.
- Stick to nuts and bolts, hard information, with more weight given to facts and less to opinions.
- Avoid all the clever bits, be it sarcasm, humor, in-jokes, slang, or cool jargon. In other words, focus on communication rather than being attractivel y witty.
That is how we must do it here on this list...

SLS, I responded to paul's actions the way I wanted to......no excuses from here for what I typed.....didn't have a bad day or anything to set me off... .in this forum i do believe we are invited to comment on a topic, the way we see
it....dale will tell us when to stop and what's inappropriate.....in all my transactions on ebay i have left one negative feedback, for something paid f or but never received, and then only after exhausting every avenue to get the i tem or recover my dough.....never threatened negative feedback ONCE to get the seller to "do the right thing"...finally left it echoing what a score of oth ers left as the 100% good seller bombed out on a scam....hey, i learned a good lesson there, but i really didn't buy from anyone else on ebay for 6 months. ..i felt suckered, especially after my usual checking around to see who the sell er was....negative feedback is the only red flag anyone has "to judge" someone' s intergrity at ebay....sellers and buyers don't want any, ever!!! ...even if you can put it behind you emotionally, it's still there for the world to see....in eleven years of bicycle retailing and thousands of repairs, i alwa ys tried my best to satisfy everyone who walked thru my doors, but alas, some cannot be made happy no matter who started what or what one does to make them win, eve n if you lose money or face in front of staff and customers....bullying was mentioned....that is what the negative feedback is when it comes across your bow
in the first email....would it have started out like that if these two were standing across the counter from one another???? doubtful....look closely at the
item, accept it or reject it, or bargain it down if it looks damaged but really, you want it.... these remote deals are based so much on faith and al so how well you communicate after the auction ends, not to mention once the item arrives and there is that moment of truth when you open the present from the
stranger....Matteo was refered to as a troubling individual, refered to his true
nature and class coming out as a bad business man with a poor attitude....hmmmm....so i think what paul did, how he behaved was "certainly
uncalled for".....maybe my words are a bit more acidic and sarcastic than others post s on this episode....i did not intend them to be any other words than those i wrote, o r how they sounded.... you got it! if paul has been belittled, than i have addressed his behavior as i intended. charlie flaherty baltimore maryland usa....
