Greetings again...
I was just perusing a website devoted to Gitane bikes, and while looking thru the catalogs, I realized that the Gitane tandem that Bonnie & I own is nowhere to be seen. Our bike has an all '531' frame w/ Campy drop outs; it was originally set up w/ a double chainring (40/52), and Huret 'Sucess' ti rear derailleur. It also had an 'Atom' drum brake (36 hole, 13 guage spokes), and a 36 spoke front wheel (normal 14 guage spokes). According to the sticker on the frame, it was originally purchased at the Bike Gallery here in Portland...the bike was unrideable when I got it, so a lot of parts have been changed out (Pedersen brakes, Duopar/triple drivetrain, Maxicar hubs, etc). If you think you can help me with dating/id'ing it, I will be happy to send you pics. All the other Gitane tandems I have seen are of the steel rimmed, mystery-metal variety; any help/input would be appreciated!
Peace, Larry Myers Portland, OR,USA
