The Huret Jubilee front derailleur was made both for English gauge seattubes, 28.6 mm OD, and French gauge seattubes , 28.0 mm OD. The English version usually requires a shim to install on a French tube. The French version cannot easily fit an English tube and I imagine quite a few have been damaged trying to force them onto English gauge seattubes.

Can someone tell me why they sometimes break when attached to the seat tube? Should I resize the inside of the clamp before an install? If so, to what size?
