Subject: [CR]Feedback on packing

I've had trouble myself with Fedex, one very carefully packed bike was actually run over by a fork lift truck judging by the damage.

The post (priority airmail) seems a safer but slower solution in the end : the bike box is in the midst of much smaller and lighter boxes, and the handling is maybe done more by hand? With Fedex it's a load of heavy packets getting shoved around by fork lift, piled on top of each other, plus the pressure on getting stuff to the final destination within a few days means careless handling.

So from now on bikes go through the post, one packet for the frame, another for the wheels and mudguards, even if this takes a lot longer in dismantling bitrs and pieces (and there's a lot more to take of a touring RH than the average italian racer...). Triple thickness box, plus foam, etc...

Any opinions, good or bad experiences with Fedex vs the post?
