Marty,

It is as stated, around 1987. During that time there was a certain trend in bike paint jobs that started amongst the triathlon crowd; a group wh o had very little "traditional" cycling background. I was in a phase at the time of experimenting with various things paintwise, including paint ing part of ones bike to match their cycling garb. This frame wasn't for a tri-guy, but the original owner saw some of the stuff I was doing in my shop and wanted something "a little unusual". This is what we came up with. As usual, the photos don't really do justice to the actual overal l effect of this paint job. Believe it or not, this is one of the tamer things I did at the time; most of the strange things were done on repain ts of everything except bikes I built myself. There are only 2 or 3 Bayl is frames with paint jobs that are not more typical of what one generall y sees in my work. Most of the time I focused on creative or unusual col or combinations; like the bike that Lou Deeter was attracted to from the Bicycling Mag article from around '83. I still do the odd color thing t oday. I like it and find it sets my work apart visually from most other painters.

Once my actual website is up I will dig up some photos of some of the "f unny" stuff I did during that time and put them in my gallery. There is a completely zebra striped bike, an unusual flower motif, and a few oth er oddities.

I would consider the bike on eBay a piece of my "painting history and ev olution", so to speak.

I know the ebay listing states 80's vintage, but Brian, are you sure that's not a late 60's early 70's Acid Test, Merry Prankster inspired paint job?

Seriously tho, How bout some info about this unique (to say the least) paintjob?

If it were my size I'd ride it just the way it is wearing a current off topic T-Mobile jersey
