That is your decision to make but I hope you stay, Nick, but in any case, there certainly are lessons here for all who engage in email correspondence. ? Being a frequently condensed and immediate communication with the need for conciseness to minimize bandwidth, the nature of email is such that humor, sarcasm, in-joking, or being "tongue-in-cheek" is often misunderstood and then has a counter productive result.
In addition, the more experience many of us have with email and forums such as this, the more likely we are to edit our messages down to the minimum. You may recall you referred to my first message to you as being curt.? It was not intended to be so interpreted but I have to read and write a lot of mail so I strive to efficiently construct my messages...
I am not sure what email content you received and describe as being "hate", but I do know that is is wise to have a thick skin in email circles, as misunderstood jokes or too-quickly given opinions often result in a back lash. Many uninhibited vintage bike buffs are now gone from this list serve because they indulged in unabashed comments and then couldn't take the resultant "heat".
Email users need to adapt to this reality to be able to enjoy the? benefits...

Hello Fred, yes it had me beat for a minute. I call it the ancestor of the QR skewer, which most people will object to. Plus it's not really true. As per pics, the spindle is flatted one side (the other side holds the "nut" with that little swrew and 4 holes and is standard round): you move the simplex lever up or down to screw or unscrew. In effect, it's a safe, quick tightening/locking mech. Maybe the experts can help? I say 40's.

The only satisfaction I get from hatemail is pasting a standard reply as follows: "Thank you for taking the time to write to me, I really appreciate your mail. I always reply to inbox mail. Unfortunately, I have put you on the spam list so you went get anywhere near my inbox again. I now have some work to do, so thank you again for writing, and have a nice day"
