Well after a strange hiatus from the list (both CR and my own email address ended up on my blocked list!) I am back with a few things to say about the current threads. first on exposing the old to the new more than once I had riders (who were usually passing me on a hill) slow and admire a very nicely finished Jack Taylor that I used to own (Jim Narlesky you still out there?) it was nice to see that even though they were riding carbon or TI they still could admire a bright red bike with contrasting box lining. I am currently training for L'EROICA and am doing a group training class twice a week.We use our own bikes on fixed stands attached to Watt meters. I am always the only one there with a bike that meets the CR specs(in fact the only one more than 1 or 2 years old).Someone always comments on the bike that I am using (I try to rotate bikes to give them all a look at what bikes prior to all the off topic stuff were like) This past Tuesday night I was telling the instructor (Mr Carbon Tri bike)about my weekend training ride and pointed out that the bike I had that evening was the one I had ridden on the weekend. I then spent a few moments telling him about Bill Hurlow and his significance to frame building etc. Last night before class we were again talking and he pointed out my Hurlow and spoke to one my classmates about the very things I had mentioned to him a few nights before. So it may not be a case of lack of appreciation as much as a lack of knowledge about what we all have.

Also I have joined the Rene Herse owners group with total support of my wife ,Rita who urged me to buy it. Thanks also to Mike S, Micheal C and Peter W for engaging in a little hand holding on the purchase.

BOB FREITAS MILL VALLEY CA USA Who is riding the very same Hurlow on the Marin Century tomorrow and expects there only to be one other vintage bike in the event (riding mate Dave Martinez is bringing a Cinelli)
