Plausible yes, realistic ......SILLY. I have a 1938 Schwinn Superior. All original except for seat tube decal. Wheels, saddle, paint, schwinn parts, hubs etc. Maybe worth $1500...$1800 tops to a real Schwinn collector I would say. Does the Detroit bike have provenance (I can't trace mine back prior to 1973 or so, when I got it)? Is it all original? Are there still people around who have such strong emotional attachment to that vintage to be willing to pay the price of a decent new car?
Having said all that, a decent respect for your opinions means that I will not make an offer for this bike. At any price. One 38 paramount is enough for me. But, thanks, Eric, for bringing it up.
