Hi CR Listers especially Raleigh o-philes
Hope all is well.
So I'm riding to the Gatineau Parc for a loop (Lovely smooth 40ish km with around 650 m of climbing) and there is a lovely older bike with ancient leather saddle in the "I'm at the curb to be taken" position, flat tires, lotsa dust etc.
I slow to look as I always do..
Looks pretty good on first drive by, loop back have a closer look,
Older Raleigh, much dust but no obvious rust
So I say to myself if it is still here when I get back in a couple of hours, I'll grab it
So it's there and I take it home
Pretty neat bike Plain gauge tubing sticker, drop bars with what look like standard raleigh Sports style levers on their ends on the drops,
Lovely shiny fenders,
Cottered crank (boo) But otherwise pretty neat.
I'm thinkin' it's early seventies, due to the crank,
It has the impossible to find 597 mm size tire, steel wheels, but lucky me with a bit of fiddling and swapping of fender stays it clears 700x28's just fine
So what it is?
Just says Raleigh, with the Made in England on the top tube
Huret Alvit derailleurs
Raleigh crank and brakes
I can find nothing on the Retroraleighs site, the serial number doesn't match anything there...
I know it's not a high end bike or anything,
I'd just like to know
Here's a link to a few pics I took of it the night of
http://www.flickr.com/
Forgive the low quality composition
I usually take a little more care
Thanks for any info
