Sadiq,

If the Campy cups are alloy they are Super Record or C-Record. If you have the correct spindle for the cups, and if it is titanium (non-magnetic), then the whole set is Super Record. Balls will be 3/16". If the spindle is steel, with the shield logo, and assuing that it is correct for the cups, then the set is C-Record. There are different versions of the C-rec, the early ones taking the same 3/16" sets as SR, the later ones taking 7/32" sets.

All steel cup campy BBs take 11 1/4" balls per side, except some fairly rare, early 60's Record sets that took 3/16" balls. On those sets the spindles and cups are all marked "con sfere 3/16" " or something to that effect.

If you have mixed sets, especially if there are thin and thick wall parts, you could run into the same clearance problem that you attribute to incorrect balls size.
