Thanks for that clarification, Jim. I did not go look at the frame in question but was strictly referring to the "A" frames.
The Limiteds and Rainbows "had their issues", quality varied, detailing & handwork wassignificantly less... Although certainly ridable bikes and fully functional, they were attempts at high production and simply cannot be placed at the same level as the A frames.
Last time I visited Terry in Santa Clara he had a Rainbow still in stock!? In fact you can see that frame in the CR coverage off his shop here:

Note that the Rainbow had it's seat stays mitered to the seat lug, a familiar treatment done by many builders, vs the "fastback" integral binder bolt treatment (takes more work) of many of the A frames..

One small problem: it is virtually certain that that Eisentraut is not a custom "A" frame. It is a very nice production frame called a Rainbow. Eisentraut made the Rainbow in the mid to late 80s, early 90s. There usually was a Rainbow decal on the headtube, but maybe the frame was repainted and it wasn't replaced. If you google search on Eisentraut Rainbow and follow one of the links you 'll see a picture of a Rainbow frame in Shaw's bike shop in Santa Clara CA. That one has the headtube decal but otherwise is identical to the one on ebay. Nice frame, just not an "A" frame.? ?
