FWIW: I have a B.17 Champion Narrow which is unclearly cantle plate stamped 59, a clearly stamped Champion Standard one from 61, and a Campag Brooks which is stamped 62. Changeover between stamping systems

must have been late fifties, then, at best very early sixties.

What I find intriguing is that I have two B.17 Champion Standards which

have no date stamping whatsoever, the newer, non-oval logo, but neither

bag loops nor, and this is funny, a rear badge. No empty holes for them, either. Sure, Campag Brooks saddles have no badges, but Champion

Standards?

The letters above the figures: I have only ever seen A, B, C, and D. Might this suggest a system like one letter for the according three month period of each year?

Regards, Toni Theilmeier, Belm, Germany, where I´m positively fed up with the non stop autumn we´ve had since

late April. I´ll be going mental if I´ll be drenched one more time.
