EBay long ago changed the "Reason for ending auction" list by taking out "Teh item was lost or broken" and replacing it with simply,' "The item is no longer available for sale."

I've only done it twice, and won't do it for someone who contacts me through eBay, but I will do it for a friend (or for an item I also have for sale in another venue).
