Dear folks:
I apologize that I have been relatively quiet and, er, passive (?) regarding recent CR list activity. The old bike shop has been particularly busy this season, and I have been barely able to read even the most interesting emails and have missed a few!
Wool jerseys:
First I would like to announce that I have mailed all but 3 CR wool jerseys via USPostal Priority Mail. The last three should go out today. (I spent two hours in the Post Office yesterday!) FWIW, the jerseys took too damn long and Hincapie is on my s__t list, but they look (and feel) awesome. I will soon have a chart showing what sizes are remaining for sale, please wait to inquire until I can get that accomplished.? Thanks to all for your supreme patience, I think you will be very pleased with these garments. And be sure that there will be no more (100 made) so you have a solid collectible!
CR email list breaches of rules:
As you can tell by my initial paragraph, I have not "cracked down" on many people who have pushed the limits... Partially because I do not view most of the recent breaches as serious or particularly obnoxious, I see them as sincere communications of (off topic!) topics they felt enthusiastic about to friends. Hard to be upset about that. In many cases, (and those folks know who I am talking about) I have privately asked members to modify their habits and most have been very considerate of the group and cooperated.. Thanks!
BUT, I also see a huge pile of mail coming in that is often soft on content, that could be edited, condensed, refined & very often best saved to be sent later when more "meaty". This frequent posting discourages participation by other members, clogs up our mail boxes and unnecessarily builds resentment toward those too-frequent contributors.
So, starting with tomorrow, Sept 13, I am beginning a "week long suspension of membership" to be issued to violators of the 3 message-per-day limit. If someone suddenly goes silent, you might guess that they "had to go to the principals office" and maybe got suspended. Funny to use that high school terminology, but honestly, sometimes I feel it applies to some of the Internet behavior I witness. Luckily it is not nearly bad here compared to other forums...
Please hesitate now before you dash off that instant response, think through your intended message and maybe save it for a few more comments to be added later to make that message a bit more "meaty" and not use up a valuable CR slot.
And thanks so much to all of you good girls and boys who are so kind and thoughtful here on the CR list. Truly you have made us a great little community of lovable eccentrics!
Thanks Dale
