I'll agree that that disapeared bike is a nuisance. Especially as it had racing history, it was built for a TDF rider, well known, for his very last Six Days race. Well, kids will be dumb and think they are smart, I was a quite dumb kid once so I know.
I just live for the day that bike reappears on ebay at 5000 +, and believe me it will: I'll send the boy a link to the listing. Maybe I'll phone him and offer him psycological support as a followup.

I was speaking to Bob Freitas about this particular Masi track bike that appeared on French ebay with a mangled description and not the best photos.
Before I got around to sending the seller a question, the bike disappeared! Given the recent discussion about ending auctions early, I
was curious to find out the real reason of the removal of the auction. The seller wrote back to me in apparent glee that somebody had offered him 500 euros (about $700) for the bike. Given the present popularity of both steel track bikes and the Masi brand, I dare say that had the seller simply let ebay follow its course (after correcting the spelling
error in the brand name), it would readily surpass that value.
