IRC is notorious for a tight fitting bead. I've been using cheapo black gumwall Kenda tires for a few years now and they fit fine.

I recently bought a 70s Motobecane w/ 27" x 1-1/4" Weinmann alloy rims. The problem is that they seem to be a bit larger than standard and it takes a crowbar to remove the tires! It's equally difficult to mount new tires. Anyone remember working on these pesky rims? Is there a larger 27" tire that fits these better? It came w/ Hutchinsons and I tried Kenda and IRC. Both were way too tight.
