My favorite "homemade" tools in my bike toolbox are the old Bike Warehouse Headsetter headset race press and crown race installer/hammer. I've had both since the '70s, and they have been used on many headsets since. Comprising threaded rod plus nuts and washers, and a piece o'pipe, they are crudely effective. Costing so little back then I didn't bother to scrounge up the parts to make my own. You can see them on the left side of the page at
