In the early '70s, some of the United Airlines crews, one of which was my uncle, would train on a loop near SeaTac, in Kent, WA, actually. On their regular loop was a kennel or some such operation, and on all too many occasions, there would be loose and annoying dogs. Some of the other riders were Boeing engineers and in their spare hours, they contrived some chainstay-mounted misters that were activated by a plunger button on the hadlebars. Whoever had one of these would go to the back of the group when there was a dog issue and let him have it! Full strength ammonia. These guys would talk of a dog running full bore at them and then doing a backflip in response to their new weapon.
