I recently acquired a 22mm cotton Strada tire purportedly made (and marked as such) by Andre Dugast.

The rubber tread is clearly marked " Made in Thailand." The stamp in the latexed cotton sidewall is typical Dugast style.

Is this common, or is this a fake?

The way I understand it is that the Dugast never made their own tread materials...

After the original Dourgdione (sp?) company tanked and was acquired by Dugast, back when Mssr. Dugast was making them (before the current company bought the DuGast name, 2-3 years ago + - ?), they used various other companies treads, including Clement...
