Some pieces were made in reasonable quantity and for reasons unknown haven't survived in good condition while others seem oddly plentiful.

I'll cite two examples: The old style Cinelli 1A stem with nutted pinch bolt. I don't think I've ever seen one NOS on Ebay, and damn few that aren't beat to $%^&, whereas what I recall being a similarly common high end road stem in the day- the 3TTT Record model- seems as common as dirt, even NOS.

And what's the deal with all the NOS '50s vintage Gran Sport large flange hub shells minus their axles/cones and QRs. You can hardly swing a virtual cat around on Ebay without hitting a set. Why?

What vintage stuff have you noticed out there that is either oddly rare or common today?
