Subject: [CR]In a bind!WTB/WTT Needed 22mm quill dia. stem

Hello folks,

I am still in the steep learning curve associated with taking on a 40s British bicycle after previously concentrating on 70s and 80s machines.

Having fitted the Carpenter's headclip headset I have found that the two stems I have (one a Titan bought on ebay and the other a chrome stem from a former list-member) don't fit the steering column. These were both picked up before I got the frameset and I made assumptions that it would fit a 1" quill dia. - well not the case. I now need a 1940s or early-50s 22mm dia. stem - 90-100mm length with a 24mm clamp dia. for an interesting set of bars I have.

Does anyone out there have such a stem that he or she is willing to part with. It doesn't have to be NOS but it would be nice if it is in good usable condition. I have odds and ends which I would be willing to trade or would consider paying cash.

Thanks,

Paul Williams,
