Sheldon received the Classic Rendezvous Vintage Bicycle Award a few years ago, I believe 2005. On the way to the car after the banquet, he fell while carrying the trophy. He told us that was the first symptom of a disease that had struck him. It was the fall that caused him to go in for more checkups. This news of his death is certainly a blow to bicycle hobbyists and collectors everywhere. I still have a memory of his stories of when he was a child, even then showing a love for the two-wheeled machines that he came to love and cherish so much as an adult. Tailwinds my friend.
