I have been sent material for VeloBase from many individuals throughout t he cycling community. If any material on VeloBase.com was scanned by yours elf personally please give me a list of these items and they will be remove d immediately upon request. I have referenced your wooljersey albums in th e past but can not recall all of what you had and what overlap there might have been. I apologize if there was some content sent to me that you hold copyright to. And again, I will remove it immediately once identified. I mean not to step on anyone's toes with their hard work. I do attempt to co ntact the owners of images and get their approval before using it on the si te. However when content is sent to me, I can only assume that they do so with the ability to share and allow me to host it. If you have any other i ssues, please contact me directly and we can certainly work this out. Than k you.

Jon, I am contacting you in response to your recent post to the CR List reg arding VeloBase.com. As a direct result of said posting, I took the opport unity to visit your website for the very first time, and in the course of s o doing, availed myself of the opportunity to glance at those digital image s of catalogs and other literature which you have available for public view ing. It was at that point in time I was confronted with the ugly fact that several of said catalogs, brochures, and posters were exact copies of ones which I have either personally digitized from my own collection and posted to WoolJersey or which appeared within copyrighted auction listings for ma terial which I have sold on eBay. Sadly, I also happen to recognize more t han a few other digital representations of literature which were procured s pecifically from various other websites including EquusBicycle.com and seve ral WoolJersey albums that are maintained by other CR List members. And wh ile I cannot, nor would I presume to, speak for those other individuals who se efforts and images are being re-used on your VeloBase.com website, I can assure you that never once to my knowledge was my own permission sought, a nd in any case it was absolutely NEVER given, that those images and copyrig hted materials I generated be re-used by VeloBase.com. Therefore, I hereby quite publicly ask that you immediately cease and desist all display, diss emination, and re-publication of said materials and purge same from your we bsite and its archives or otherwise face legal action instigated on my beha lf to accomplish same in defense of my copyrights and those of others whose legitimate permissions for exclusive internet republication I obtained. I do not know the particulars of that process whereby individuals might submi t to VeloBase.com materials for use on said site, although I would like to think that Jon Fischer and/or one of his designates would make at least a r easonable effort to vet said submissions so as to determine that they might be used with permission of either the legitimate copyright holders and/or those who took the time and effort to originally digitize such literature. I can state that in my own circumstance, I have taken the time to do exact ly that and that I have on file the express, written letters of consent fro m the appropriate authorities. In fact, it is often the very time consumin g and thankless process of securing proper legal permission for internet re publication that has slowed the already tedious process of digitizing the l iterally thousands of vintage cycling catalogs, brochures, posters, adverti sing materials, technical publications, service manuals, and the like I had thought to eventually have posted out to WoolJersey so that other parties might make legitimate personal use of same in due course of pursuing their individual passions and projects. I will be quite honest in telling all of you out there on the CR List who might read this rather somber missive and whom I generally believe to be upstanding individuals who have much to cont ribute in your own right toward helping fellow cycling enthusiasts, if thos e who would purport to support our vintage cycling community either cannot or will not perform proper due diligence with respect to submissions they m ight receive from others or which they obtain on their own so as to subsequ ently promote either explicitly or through complicity of inaction the illeg itimate replication without accreditation and/or wanton plagiarization of m aterials generated by other parties, profiteering in the process through in creased website traffic by having effectively represented these as being th eir own, there is little or NO incentive for persons such as myself who att empt to offer what assistance they might gratis to the masses by virtue of open internet access. As a direct consequence of this unfortunate situation , it is with great sadness and more than a few reservations that I have see n fit to immediately place all of that material which I had previously post ed to WoolJersey for the benefit of our greater vintage cycling community i nto a password protected mode - effectively rendering it private domain onc e again. Moreover, I am suspending all efforts on my part to further that online resource by no longer working toward digitizing all of that bountifu l resource of other material which I have on hand - possibly even going so far as to consider scattering it all to the four corners of the world by du mping it en masse on eBay. Only at such time as illegal copies of digital materials have been removed from VeloBase.com and a public apology for thei r (...hopefully unintended) replication is offered in this very forum as we ll as the main web page of VeloBase.com itself, will I once again allow unf ettered access to that library of materials which has been posted to WoolJe rsey, resume my efforts toward growing the contents of same, and as before, ask that fellow enthusiasts and CR List members be mindful of employing th eir likeliness ONLY for personal use.
