Subject: [CR]Re: Mavic 501 hubs question

I too once bent a rear axle on a 501 offroad, and would no longer use anything but a Phil or a cassette for touring or dirt.

I found a replacement axle in a shop (!), and my wife has used them ever since, including offroad. She is 80 lbs lighter than me, and the axle has been fine.

Don't do it unless you are very light and carrying nothing.
