Subject: [CR]Brake reach difference front to back

I was told about 13 years ago that the rear caliper reach was longer so that it was easier to modulate the braking action. In other words, because of the forward shift in weight distribution during braking, the rear tends to skid, but the longer reach caliper has more "give" or "spring" to it which would, in theory, make for more gentle braking in the rear.

Has anyone ever heard this before? Is it hooey?
